For quite some time now, I have been contemplating whether or not to switch accounts. I've had a very powerful urge to shed away my old username because I feel that it just doesn't suit me anymore. I got tired of being ascociated with a famous Nintendo character, Suicune. It isn't that I don't like the critter anymore, I feel that it has been hiding something. . . my true self. Having Suicune in my name seemed to hide me behind a mask of unoriginality. It just doesn't feel right anymore. I've changed. . . and am still changing, doing my ever-constant dance of life and I feel that my username should change with me.

As you may have observed, I've been putting the name "FrigidInferno" on my most recent images. This is the artist name that I wish to identify myself by.

A gallery clean-up will soon follow. But for now, I'll just leave my gallery as-is for passers-by to enjoy until I can get myself fully situated on my other account. I also think that it sounds more catchy.

Just a quick update. Meh, can't really do much on the weekdays. . .

Yep, it's finally happened. I finally got 10K. I just can't believe it.

Weird? Okay, if you want weird, here it is. Don't say I didn't warn you.

1. I like to eat a lot of my food with ketchup, including grilled cheese sandwitches, artichokes, rice, and broccoli. *Yummy!*
2. i literally growl at people/things when I'm eating jerky.
3. When it comes to watching live action movies, I have the attention span of a peanut.
4. If I'm sitting very still for a long periot of time, my feet will start twitching.
5. I am really sneaky; so sneaky in fact that not even I know that I'm sneaking up on someone. It's probably because I'm so quiet.
6. If I'm not sure wheter my food tastes decent, I'll sniffit before I take a bite. O.o

Reflections of the Soul

One of the most admirable qualities that we, as living beings, possess is that each and every one of us has a different interpretation of everything around us. From objects, to everyday events, as well as other creatures. No matter how similar some may be, there is always some sort of difference that sets one person’s view from that of another. Even we might not all agree with all of them, it is still important to listen to what someone has to say.

The topic of this contest is to depict the wolf as you see it as an overall creature. Do you see the wolf as a wise healer? A bloodthirsty monster? Or, is it something else? It is completely your decision! You may depict your wolf in any style; anthropomorphic, realistic, surreal, fantasy, symbolic, or any combination of styles.

If you’re having trouble with how to show how you “see” wolves, try looking at various mythology from other cultures such as Native American tribes, biblical descriptions, and such.

If you need some clarifications or have a question or two, drop a line on this journal entry or send me a private message.

There aren’t any restrictions on the artistic mediums you use to create your entry. You can use traditional or digital media or even writing. Let your imagination run wild and free!

The entries are due on July 30th, 2006. This should be plenty of time for the contestants to get their entries in. If necessary, I will give an extension if the deadline is nearing and someone needs it.

I will allow:
~ Blood and gore, but please be sure to restrict it to a PG-13 rating.
~ Anthros, werewolves, normal wolves, winged or any kind of fantasy wolf.
~ Each contestant may enter as many entries as he or she chooses.
~ If you decide to draw an anthro/werewolf, please keep it clean. Only tasteful nudity is allowed.
~ You may have an original character in your entry just as long as it remains pertinent to the main topic.
~ Clarification: Prose and poetry are completely acceptable!

I will NOT allow:
~ Any sexual or drug-related themes
~ Nudity
~ Entries that have been traced/copied/stolen from another artist/writer.
~ Entries that have been drawn on lined (binder) paper.
~ Flaming or religion bashing.

Unlike my previous contest, I will be judging the entries along with the help of some friends and my relatives. The entries will be judged on the following:

Judge:



Creativity (This will be really hard to judge!)
Effort - Does the entry look as if some time was taken to create it?
Neatness - Does the entry look neat and clean by means of the initial drawing or spelling/grammar?
Uniqueness - Does the entry stand out in any way? How? Is it the subject matter, colors, style. . .?
Et Cetera. . .

Please keep in mind that the entries will not be based on "how good" or "well-drawn" a piece is. Everyone is at their own artistic level and it seems unfair to judge entries on such things. The only things you really need to consider are effort and neatness.

(More judging criteria may be added later if I forgot to put something up there or if someone makes a suggestion.)

Prizes:
Once the winners have been selected, they will receive the following prizes:

1st Place: One free commission with a full, detailed background with a limit of two characters.
2nd Place: One free commission with a full, detailed background with up to one character
3rd Place: One free commission with a full, simple background with up to one character.
4th Place: One free commission with no background with one, detailed/colored character.
5th Place: One free commission done neatly in pencil or ink. No color will be added.

If the number of entries exceeds 10, there will also be a prize for a random entry. More details will be added if there are 10 entries.

For quite a while now, I have been considering holding a contest. I have no way of receiving money (other than snail mail, which isn't the best thing in the world) for doing commissions for other people. So a contest is the only way I can do them at this time without having to worry about money because they would be free.

I was curious as to whether anyone would be interested in participating in a contest if I were to hold one. I was thinking about holding it between my SA, dA, and maybe even FAC accounts. I think I should have waited a little longer for such a thing, but I couldn't wait.

I'm also trying to think of some possible themes for the contest. *Ponders* Hmmm.
